Here are 7 good scientific reasons why the Earth is NOT as old as is claimed.
1. The age of the Earth is based on the element Uranium emitting radiation and, over the 4.5 billion year half life, becoming Lead. The problem with this line of reasoning is that for every Kg of uranium there when the Earth was formed, there should now be half a Kg of lead, some intermediate elements and some uranium left.26 So every uranium mine must have at least an equal amount of lead and every lead mine must have some uranium. Every mine of each must have some of the other to fulfill the half life of uranium. However, not every mine does so the Earth can not have been around for 4.5 billion years. Then there is the problem of
2. The Big Bang Theory or BBT, requires that at 9 billion years ago there was a series of super, super novas which are necessary to make the elements heavier than iron. Thus uranium was made at this time and not when the Earth was formed from the protoplanet after the Sun was formed from the protostar. So this would account for the fact that there are uranium and lead mines without the other element there at all but it also means that the Earth could have been formed yesterday.
3. Another problem comes in the shape of the Grand Canyon. From the bottom to the top, there is a total of over 1.3 billion years missing in the Geological Time Scale. In fact of the geological time scale from Precambrian to today is not there. "No where in the world is the record,or even part of it, anywhere near complete. Even in the Grand Canyon...there are huge breaks." Professor Derek Ager 23
4. The Earth now has a mass of 5.977 x 1024kg. We are also told that the Earth receives about 13000 tonnes of meteoric dust per year,or 1.3 x 107 kg,which, when considered at 4.5 x 109 life span gives a total of 5.85 x 1016 kg. Even if the Earth only received half this amount,it means that the mass of the Earth at the beginning reaches an absurdly small amount. But then there is
5. There are Pine trees in the coast at Newcastle, Australia, Tassel ferns in the Cumberland Plateau USA and Horse Tail plants at Mabau Nova Scotia,to name but a few, all which are fossilized in the vertical position, thereby running through many millions of years of supposed layers of rock. This is impossible as the vegetation could not have lasted long enough to be fossilized over many millions of years but to calculate the rates per year of sedimentation of the past is ludicrous.
6. Another scientific fact to consider concerns the Earth's magnetic field which has been shown to decrease in strength by 6 percent every 100 years, or a half life of around 1400 years. This means that, around 600 AD,the magnetic strength was twice that of today and then around 800 BC it was 4 times today's level and so on. Thus at 3600 BC, it was 16 times today level. What the Earth was like at 4.5 billion years ago is any one's guess but it was not anything like it should have been. Perhaps this is the answer to the puzzle concerning that, about 3600 BC, the plants and animals that are fossilized were so much bigger than now. This leaves us with the big one. By 25000 years ago, the magnetic field would have been too strong to allow life to exist.
7. The BBT tell us that around shortly after the Big Bang, hydrogen atoms and helium atoms were produced in the ratio of 10 to 1. The Sun is said to be 5 billion years old and has about another 5 billion years to go before it expires to a cold dark dwarf as all the hydrogen available has by then been burned into helium.
However, the present ratio of Hydrogen atoms to Helium atoms are 11.8 to 1 or 92.1 percent Hydrogen to 7.8 percent Helium with 0.1 percent making up the rest. 25 . Which means that there is more Hydrogen in the Sun today than when it is supposed to have begun burning Hydrogen into Helium 5 billion years ago.
Therefore, from the present scientific facts, the Sun should have been made yesterday or very close to it, say 6000 years ago!
Thus in 1 to 7 above, the science of today shows that the Earth and the Sun could have been formed yesterday, but we know that is not true. Perhaps 6000 years ago might do the trick.
We leave with this quote of this lovely thought by Lucretius as translated by R. E. Latham, Penguin Books 13
